Calculation method

How Moolank and Bhagyank numbers are calculated

Moolank number: Reduce only the day of birth to a single digit.

Bhagyank number: Add every digit in the full date of birth and reduce to a single digit.

Moolank example

If the date of birth is 28-Apr-1975, use only the day: 2 + 8 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. So the Moolank is 1.

Bhagyank example

For 28-Apr-1975, add every digit of the full date: 2 + 8 + 0 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 5 = 36, then 3 + 6 = 9. So the Bhagyank is 9.

Important distinction

Moolank uses only the birth day. Bhagyank uses the complete date of birth, including day, month, and all four year digits.

How a chart is read

Vedic numerology is not only one number.

The public calculator gives a starting point, but a serious interpretation combines multiple layers before reaching a conclusion.

Chart layer

Moolank

Moolank is calculated from the day of birth. It often describes the visible personality, instinctive behaviour, first reaction, and the way a person starts tasks.

Chart layer

Bhagyank

Bhagyank is calculated from the complete birth date. It points to the longer life direction, repeated lessons, opportunities, and the pattern that becomes clearer with maturity.

Chart layer

Birth chart grid

The Vedic numerology grid looks at which digits are present, missing, or repeated in the birth date, Moolank, and Bhagyank. Repeated digits become louder themes; missing digits need conscious development.

Chart layer

Name number

The name number, usually checked through the Chaldean system on this site, shows how the public spelling of a name supports or conflicts with the birth vibration.

Yog combinations

Why number combinations matter.

Yog patterns are one reason two people with the same Moolank can still experience life differently. The surrounding numbers decide whether the core number gets support, pressure, or imbalance.

View sample reports
  • A yog is formed when specific numbers are present or absent in the chart. It can show support for authority, money, learning, comfort, discipline, or spiritual protection.
  • A yog is not read blindly. The same combination can behave differently depending on Moolank, Bhagyank, repeated numbers, missing numbers, name support, and the active dasha.
  • A yog can also become active during a period when a dasha introduces a number. If a supportive combination was broken in the past and returns in the current period, the reading should highlight relief and recovery.

Dasha timing

Timing shows when a number becomes active.

A birth chart shows the base pattern. Dasha timing shows which number is currently influencing the person and how that influence changes across years, months, shorter periods, and days.

Timing layer

Maha dasha

The larger period theme. It shows the broad background energy operating over multiple years and is read with the birth chart.

Timing layer

Antar dasha

The yearly sub-period. It refines the larger period by showing what kind of yearly number influence is active.

Timing layer

Pratyantar dasha

The shorter sub-period within the year. It is useful for near-term changes in relationship, career, money, health discipline, and decision timing.

Timing layer

Daily dasha

The day-level influence. It should be used for practical awareness, not fear. It helps choose better communication, patience, discipline, or action for the day.

Reading discipline

How to avoid shallow interpretation.

A useful reading should explain both the promise and the caution. The goal is not to create fear, but to help the person use supportive periods well and handle difficult periods with awareness.

  • A number matching Moolank can feel personal and energizing because it supports the natural operating style.
  • A number matching Bhagyank can feel meaningful because it supports the longer destiny path.
  • Repeated numbers intensify the quality of that digit. Intensification can be useful or difficult depending on discipline and context.
  • Missing numbers do not mean failure. They show qualities that should be developed consciously through habits, environment, remedies, and better choices.
  • Good periods should be used actively. Challenging periods should be handled with patience, clarity, remedies, and reduced impulsiveness.
