Frequently asked questions
Your questions about Vedic numerology answered
The most common questions about Moolank, Bhagyank, dasha timing, remedies, and how Ank Jyotish reports work.
What is Vedic numerology?
Vedic numerology is a system rooted in Jyotish (Indian astrology) that uses the numbers derived from your date of birth to map your personality, life path, timing, and karmic patterns. Unlike Western numerology, it assigns planetary rulers (Sun through Mars) to numbers 1–9 and reads them through dasha (timing cycle) periods rather than fixed yearly forecasts.
What is Moolank (birth number)?
Moolank is the single-digit reduction of your birth day. If you were born on the 28th, your Moolank is 2+8=10 → 1. It governs your outward personality, how you initiate actions, your decision-making style, and how others first perceive you. The ruling planet of your Moolank is your primary planetary ruler.
What is Bhagyank (destiny number)?
Bhagyank is derived by reducing your complete date of birth (day + month + year) to a single digit. It represents your life path — the underlying direction that becomes clearer over time, the type of work you're built for at a deeper level, and the karmic themes that repeat across life areas.
What is a birth chart grid?
The birth chart grid (Lo Shu style) maps all digits present in your date of birth into a 3×3 grid of numbers 1–9. Numbers present multiple times are 'amplified' and carry stronger planetary energy. Numbers absent from your birth date are 'missing' — life repeatedly brings situations that ask you to consciously develop those qualities.
What is Maha Dasha?
Maha Dasha is a major planetary timing period, typically lasting several years, that governs the overall theme and energy of a chapter of your life. Within each Maha Dasha, there are shorter Antar Dasha (annual), Pratyantar Dasha (sub-period), and Daily Dasha cycles. When the active dasha planet matches your Moolank or Bhagyank, alignment across all life areas is strongest.
How are the reports generated?
Reports at Ank Jyotish are generated algorithmically using your name and date of birth — not manually written or AI-composed. The system uses Vedic numerology rules: dasha cycle calculations, planetary combination (yog) analysis, birth chart grid reading, and Chaldean name number scoring. Every section is specific to your numbers, not a generic template.
Are the remedies religious? Do I need to follow them?
Remedies at Ank Jyotish are practical and behavioural — not religious. They include specific actions like consistent sleep schedules for Saturn periods, writing priorities before opening your phone for Sun periods, or charitable service for Ketu periods. You choose one option from three given. No expensive rituals, gemstones, or paid puja are ever recommended.
How is this different from Western numerology?
Western numerology treats numbers as fixed personality archetypes (Life Path 7 = the seeker, always). Vedic numerology adds a timing layer — your Moolank and Bhagyank are stable, but the active dasha planet shifts over years, changing which parts of your chart are amplified. This makes predictions time-specific: what's true for you in a Saturn Maha Dasha is very different from what's true in a Jupiter period.
Can numerology predict the future?
No. Numerology maps timing windows and tendencies, not fixed outcomes. A good dasha period makes effort more likely to succeed; a correction period makes specific cautions more urgent. What you do within those windows determines the result. Reports include both the opportunity side and the caution side of each period — the goal is practical guidance, not fatalistic prediction.
What is a Yog (planetary combination)?
A Yog is a specific combination of two or three active numbers in a dasha period that carries its own name and interpretation. Gaja Kesari Yog (Moon + Jupiter) supports wisdom and public recognition. Vish Yog (Moon + Saturn) asks for emotional patience and routine stability. Each yog has practical remedies specific to it — listed in the Annual Period sections of paid reports.
What does 'missing number' mean in my chart?
A missing number is a digit (1–9) that does not appear anywhere in your date of birth. This creates a gap in that planet's qualities in your natural expression. For example, missing 8 (Saturn) often means discipline and financial structure must be consciously built — they don't come automatically. When a dasha period activates a missing number, its energy feels unfamiliar but can become beneficial with awareness.
